Frequently Asked Questions
What types of wood do you sell?
How do you figure out your pricing?
What is a board foot?
Is your material true 1” or true 2”?
Can you mill my logs for me?
We source all of our products locally. Local softwood inventory is changing weekly, but typically we have Douglas Fir, Spruce and Ponderosa Pine. We also mill local hardwoods like Elm, Ash, Maple, Black Walnut on rare occasions, and we have also acquired Sycamore locally in the past. Reach out to us for current species.
All of our pricing is based up board feet, but in our quotes we typically break that down to price per piece. Due to different variables in orders and the fluctuating costs of materials and resources, our prices are ever changing.
Calculating board feet can seem pretty complicated, but it’s really just a measurement of volume. So a 1” thick board at 12” wide will have 1 board foot per linear foot, and a 2” thick board at 6” wide will have 1 board foot per linear foot. I understand if this is confusing, so fell free to give us a shout, and well simplify it and help ya out where we can.
That the beauty of running a sawmill. We put that in your hands, and provide material for what you need. If you're wanting true 2” material, Great! We’ll price according to your needs. Need 1.5”? We can adjust to what you want.
Absolutely! Typically we just ask the client to deliver or arrange delivery of logs to us, and let us know what material needs you have. We can work with the client to show what their logs are capable of, and work up a cut list for the project.
